You can get started by Downloading the Yoast SEO
Go to WordPress Sidebar menu. Hover over the plugins menu and click Add New
Search Yoast SEO on the search bar that appears and it will be the first result that comes up. Click install now and after installation is complete click on the “activate” button to activate the plugin.
You can access the Plugin’s setting by simply clicking the icon at the top left or from the new SEO menu appeared on the sidebar
From the plugin dashboard ,go to “Your Info” and fill out the foundations.
Make sure to enter the correct Website name and identify yourself as a company or a person.
Click the “Save Changes” button and let’s go to the next step
Next go to the “Webmaster Tools” tab and click on the “Google Search console”. This Google Search engine console allows your site to index in Google search engine and also optimize the visibility on Google
Next, sign in to your Google account
Once you have logged in to your google account click the “Alternate methods” tab and select “HTML tag.”
After that, a drop down will appear with your Search console meta code. Copy the alphanumeric string without the quotation marks.
Paste this meta code into Google Search console text box and click “Save Changes”
To complete the verification click the “Verify” Button
Congratulations!!! Now you have authenticated webmaster tools to your website you’ll get a huge data-driven insight such as keyword phrases you rank and the ability to give Google a notification when you publish new posts. There is lot more to go
Next, go to the General tab and start the Installation Wizard
Yoast will take you through 10 steps of quick installation to optimize your WordPress blog.First, comes the welcome screen that you can skip
In the second step, You will ask to specify the environment that best suits your site.Choose Production environment as you make this site to get the real traffic.
From the next step chose “blog” and click next.
The next step is to choose whether this site is set up yourself or by a company.You can skip this step as we have already set this up.
In step five you can add any social profiles that are associated with your blog.Click neat after completing
Step 6 is about post visibility set your settings as shown in the image below
In the next step, you will have to select the number of authors you can change the settings in future if you wish to add new users
From the next step, you can let Yoast SEO plugin pull in data from Google’s search console. Click on the “Get Google Authorization Code” button.
A new pop-up will appear where you asked to give permission to the Yoast plugin to access search console data. Click Allow
In step 9, you can verify your website name and choose a titled separator.
The title separator is a symbol used to separate your blog post’s title and your website’s name in the meta title information. This is what Google searchers will see when finding your blog through a search query.

The symbol is a matter of personal preference. Click “Next” when you’re ready to move on
After finishing the configuration in the next step you will see a congratulatory message confirming that you have successfully optimized your SEO settings for the WordPress blog.
The last Yoast SEO setting worth configuring is an XML sitemap. An XML sitemap is a file that lists the URLs for your website.
It helps Google and other search engines crawl your site for new posts and pages. Fortunately, Yoast has a built-in feature that automatically updates your sitemap, so you can click it and forget it.
In the “Features” tab, set the “Advanced settings pages” to “Enabled” and save the changes.
A new group of menus will appear in the sidebar select “XML Sitemaps” under “SEO”
Select “User Sitemap” tab and toggle “Author/user sitemap” to enable. Save changes
